Covington man to be sentenced for kidnapping elderly woman in 2011

COVINGTON, Ky. - The man convicted of kidnapping an elderly woman from the Crestview Hills Town Center in May 2011 will face sentencing in federal court later this month.
Police say 40-year-old Joseph Weir abducted 74-year-old Ann Ernst from the Crestview Hills Town Center on May 31, 2011. They say he forced her into her car with a gun and drove her across the Ohio River to Hamilton County where he tied her to a tree located behind a business on East Miami River Road.
The maximum sentence Weir faces will be life in prison.
Weir will appear in federal court in Covington April 29.
