CINCINNATI - This week's digital arena was all about President Bush, Beyoncé, and your favorite social media platforms. What did you miss this week? Dive in and find out!
Welcome to Twitter, President Bush! George H. W. Bush became the latest former president to give Twitter a try. The 41st President of the United States hopped onto the social media wagon this week. To date, he has amassed more than 73,000 followers and has sent out two tweets. You can follow him @GeorgeHWBush.
Queen Bey strikes. Breathe. You’re still alive. You may be slightly faint after receiving the shock of your life late Thursday night, when superstar Beyoncé dropped her fifth album on iTunes. No hype, no marketing, no crazy pre-album party. Because she’s Beyoncé and, like a stealth fighter, she just released the album and watched as the world lost their minds.
Billboard is reporting that more than 80,000 copies were sold in three hours, and the album is well on its way to taking the number one spot on the charts.
Twitter nixes blocking changes. Let’s face it, blocking someone on Twitter means you DO NOT want to deal with them. But Twitter tried to switch up the game this week by adjusting what exactly it meant to block someone on the platform. The company quickly recalled this decision after much uproar from users.
Instgaram gets direct. Whereas you used to share your Instagram photos and videos with your entire group of followers, an update to the app this week now lets you share content directly with certain friends. Kind of like how you'd do via text. Only on an app. Am I the only one who doesn't get it?
Read all about the upgrade and decide for yourself whether or not you like the changes.
Still recovering from Bey's holiday surprise? Patting yourself on the back for making enough noise that Twitter reverted back to it's old style of blocking people? Hating or loving the new Instagram update? Connect with me on Twitter @jennyfromthebak and let me know!
