MASON, Ohio - The Associated of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) announced Wednesday a stop in Cincinnati for the upcoming Pro Beach Volleyball Tour.
The tournament will be held at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason during Labor Day weekend for the AVP Cincinnati Open on August 30 until September 2.
The Cincinnati Open marks the second stop on the late-summer tour and will feature a field of 16, two-player men's teams and 16, two-player women's teams.
"I was so glad to see the Cincinnati Open on the 2013 schedule," said AVP star Todd Rogers in a press release. "The tournament is always a first-class operation at the Tennis Center. I've been fortunate enough to play beach volleyball in some amazing places across the United States and around the world, but coming back to the Lindner Family Tennis Center is a little bit like coming home for me."
Players scheduled to appear in the Cincinnati Open include Olympic gold medalists Rogers and Phil Dalhausser, three-time Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings, Olympic silver medalists Jen Kessy and April Ross, and Olympians Nicole Branagh, Jake Gibb and Sean Rosenthal.
"We've been working very hard to put together the best possible tour for 2013, and we're confident that we'll have the country's best players competing week in and week out on the AVP tour," Owner of AVP Donald Sun said in a press release. "We're extremely appreciative of all the great people who have helped us to bring back the Cincinnati Open to a community we know is passionate about volleyball."
Tickets will go on sale Wednesday, June 26 and can be purchased at www.AVP.com.
