Kroger is the largest supermarket chain in the United States, but like many retailers (including Macy's), it's been facing competition from Amazon.
The two Cincinnati-based companies have had to shift their tactics to compete with Jeff Bezo's online retail giant. With Amazon's purchase of the Whole Foods supermarket chain, and the subsequent slashing of Whole Food's prices, though, Kroger may find itself eclipsed.
