ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A car overturned on an Anderson Township roadway Saturday afternoon after the elderly driver of the vehicle fell asleep behind the wheel.

According to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, Philip Lin, 74, was traveling north on Heather Hill Boulevard  around 3:45 p.m. when he fell asleep behind the wheel of his 1995 Toyota Camry and left the roadway. Lin's vehicle continued off the road, crashed into a mailbox at 2215 Heather Hill Boulevard, struck an electric transformer and then rolled onto its top.

Witnesses at the scene broke a window on the vehicle in order to free Lin, who was not injured during the crash. The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office said Lin was wearing his seatbelt.

Multiple houses in the area lost power due to the transformer being struck. Duke Energy responded to the scene and was making repairs to the transformer late Saturday evening.

Lin was not under the influence of drugs of alcohol, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff, but he was cited for failing to maintain reasonable control of his vehicle.
