Campbell County man accused of killing brother in Bellevue home

BELLEVUE, Ky. - A Campbell County man is accused of killing his brother after a dispute in a Bellevue home.

The shooting was first reported at about 12:30 a.m. Monday. Officers said they were called to a home in the 100 block of Ward Avenue in response to a shooting.

Police said when they arrived, they found 52-year-old Randall Sturgeon dead on a sofa in the front living room of his home.

Investigators said Sturgeon had been involved in an argument with his brother, 53-year-old Anthony Sturgeon, after he took a computer and wi-fi connection from the room of his nephew who lived with him before being shot.

Anthony Sturgeon is accused of using a handgun to kill his brother and arrested on one count of murder. He is being held in the Campbell County Detention Center.

At 8:30 a.m. Monday morning Campbell County Judge Karen Thomas assigned a public defender to the case and entered a not-guilty plea for Anthony Sturgeon. A $500,000 bond and a preliminary hearing date of July 11 at 1 p.m. were also set by Thomas.

Thomas stated the suspect is considered a danger to the community.

Investigators said the brothers were living together at the home and no one else was there during the shooting. Police said the pair's mother passed away about a year ago.

Bellevue Detective Jon McClain said Anthony Sturgeon called 911 and told Campbell County dispatchers that he accidently shot his brother.

An autopsy has been scheduled.
