COVINGTON, Ky. - On Tuesday, a Kenton County judge denied the request of a Ben-Gal cheerleader and her mother to raise their bond after the pair asked for a higher amount last week.
Judge Patricia Summe set the bond for Sarah and Cheryl Jones at $15,000 each after the Jones' attorney, Charles Lester, asked Summe to raise his clients' bond on Friday.
Lester said the Sarah and Cheryl were willing to pay an additional $50,000 to be in contact with the victim's family, with whom the pair is close friends. After Summe denied their request, the Joneses are not allowed to have contact with the victim's family.
Also, Sarah and Cheryl were ordered to disable text messaging on their phones.
Sarah, a former Dixie Heights High School English teacher, is charged with sexually abusing a student and using electronic means to solicit illegal activity.
Her mother, Cheryl, is charged with tampering with evidence in the case. Cheryl is the principal of Twenhofel Middle School. She has been placed on administrative leave.
Sarah and Cheryl are out of jail on bond.
