COVINGTON, Ky. - A woman is dead after a fire in a Northern Kentucky home early Monday morning.
A fire stared at 1343 Garrard Street in Covington at about 12:15 a.m. When fire crews arrived at the scene, the house was engulfed in flames and fire was coming through the front windows.
A woman, who was in her 60s, was in the house at the time of the blaze and died in the fire, the victim's family told 9 On Your Side. Officials have not released the identity of the woman at the time.
9 On Your Side spoke with the victim's neighbor, who said he was the last person to see her. The neighbor said he was working on her car, then helped her to bed. He says he put her on the couch, and then she took her medicine. The neighbor says he got into a fight with the victim about the incense she had burning in her home. Officials have not confirmed that the incense caused the fire.
A neighbor called 911 when the fire broke out. Crews who first arrived on scene tried to unsuccessfully make entry through a back door.
