CINCINNATI - A local man accused of killing a Sycamore Township toddler is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday morning.
Anthony Pierson, 32, is charged with the beating death of 2-year-old James Livesay. The boy was found unresponsive in a home in the Village Green trailer park in the 7500 block of School Road March 12, 2012.
Pierson, who was the live-in boyfriend of the boy's mother, was watching the boy when the incident occurred.
Pierson is accused of repeatedly hitting the boy in his stomach, causing severe internal injuries and bleeding that police say resulted in the boy's death.
A grand jury indicted Pierson on charges of aggravated murder, murder and felonious assault. If he is convicted on all of those charges, he could face the death penalty, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters said at a news conference March 21, 2012.
The court will set a another pre-trial hearing date after Tuesday's hearing.
