WEST CHESTER TWP., Ohio - Members of the AFL-CIO plan to rally outside House Speaker John Boehner's office in West Chester Township Wednesday, calling for job creation rather than federal budget cuts that threaten existing jobs.
The rally is scheduled for 11 a.m. at 7969 Cincinnati-Dayton Road.
The AFL-CIO is most concerned with the March 1 deadline, which would begin automatic and widespread spending cuts on the federal level.
President Barack Obama said those cuts mean people will lose their jobs. The $85 billion in cuts, known as a sequester, covers the entire range of the government.
"Tax reform is a once-in-a generation opportunity to boost job creation in America," Boehner said in a statement. "It should not be squandered to enable more Washington spending. Spending is the problem, spending must be the focus."
