A Franklin truck stop manager says his call to report a woman soliciting sex from truck drivers turned into much more than an arrest.
After officers put 22-year-old Krystal VanHoose in the cruiser, they say she slipped off the handcuffs, rolled down the window, put her hand between the grates and let herself out.
She then snuck into her car and took off.
This happened in the parking lot of the Pilot Travel Center.
Officer Jonathan Woods says, "She's just real small-boned. Handcuffs only close up so far. She left the scene by the time we got to her car. She'd left a large gap between us and her."
That's about the time that the truck stop manager was on State Route 123, heading back from filing out paperwork at the police department on charges against VanHoose.
"When I'm on my way back after filing a report, I see this car barreling down the street at a high rate of speed, passing other cars," said Peter Colasante, the manager of the Pilot Travel Center.
Peter Colasante says he saw VanHoose coming right at him in an SUV.
He said she crashed into him and some other cars, too.
Even after this crash, investigators say VanHoose ran to get away but she didn't get far before officers stopped her.
Colasante says he's still in disbelief that his call to keep crime away from his business turned into this.
"From time to time we have people who come out and solicit the truck drivers which is a nuisance, so we try to keep them off the lot as much as possible," he said.
"This girl, I had already chased her off twice," he added.
VanHoose is now facing a list of charges.
She's in the Warren County jail and will be in court Tuesday afternoon.
