Man Sentenced To 22 Years For Shooting Wife

CINCINNATI -- A man accused of shooting his estranged wife Wednesday night, then leading officers on a wild chase going the wrong way on a busy local interstate is now behind bars.

Police arrested 55-year-old Matthew Burton around 9 p.m. after the chase ended with him allegedly crashing into as many as 10 other cars along I-71 and the Norwood Lateral ramp.

Officers say the incident actually began in Evanston a short time earlier when Burton shot his estranged wife, 55-year-old Siri Davis, several times at her Dana Avenue home as she was arriving home from work.

Following the shooting, Burton allegedly took off in a black Hyundai sedan with officers in pursuit. At times, police say he was traveling the wrong way on both highway entrance ramps and the interstate itself.

At one point, the pursuit turned into a foot chase, as Burton allegedly tried to run from his car and carjack other vehicles.

One or more off-duty police officers saw the incident unfolding an jumped into action. They helped capture Burton as he was allegedly fleeing on foot from the interchange area of I-71 and the Norwood Lateral.

A woman in one of the vehicles that Burton hit has been identified as 59-year-old Kathleen Kinsey. She was taken to University Hospital with serious injuries. There is no word yet on her condition.

Burton's estranged wife, Siri Davis, was also reportedly taken to University Hospital after emergency workers found her shot several times in her car parked behind her home. She is currently listed in critical condition.

Burton reportedly suffered only minor injuries in the pursuit. He is currently behind bars at the Hamilton County Justice Center.

He is scheduled for arraignment on Friday.
