A Green Township neighborhood is on high alert after an intruder broke into a house and sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl.
Police say she was dragged from her house and sexually assaulted in her backyard.
Neighbors near Starhaven Trail say she was choked and passed out for awhile before she was able to get back to her house.
"Very rattled," said neighbor Jennifer Wibbelsman, who described her emotions.
"We just moved here in August. You know, you like to think you're in a safe neighborhood. It happening this close really rattled me," Wibbelsman said.
The attack happened in mid-October, but Green Township police did not release an exact date.
In fact, police are currently very tight-lipped about the case except to warn neighbors to be on alert.
"Really startled me. I was up and getting ready to leave for work shortly before that time," said Ryan Keller, another neighbor.
Keller tells 9News that the neighborhood is organizing a block watch program.
"I'm hoping to be involved in that," Keller said.
Police believe this attack may be related to a similar one that happened in the neighborhood in March.
Then, a 20-year-old woman was assaulted as she walked to her car. She was dragged between two houses and threatened with a weapon.
Police are urging neighbors to report anything out of the ordinary.
They are also encouraging residents to leave their lights on and keep doors locked.
