A former West Clermont School employee has turned herself in to authorities after a grand jury indicted her for sexual battery of a student.

The facts of her surrender at the Clermont County Jail and her resignation was a story you saw first on 9News.

Authorities say the suspect knew her high school-aged victim through an after-school activity.

Donna Hoffman, of Union Township, turned herself in around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday after a warrant was issued for her arrest earlier in the day.

It was the culmination of a police investigation that started just over two weeks ago, and has also seen her resign her paid and unpaid duties with West Clermont Schools.

Behind the bricks and razorwire of the Clermont County Jail in Batavia Wednesday night is where 42-year-old Donna Hoffman is.

But it was another brick building, the school district's Board of Education building, that Hoffman worked inside of until November 15.

She was employed there mostly in a clerical position.

9News was told it was also on November 15 that she resigned from West Clermont Schools after being confronted about an alleged sexual relationship Union Township Police were investigating concerning a 16-year-old Glen Este High School student.

Hoffman was indicted Wednesday by a Clermont County grand jury on one count of sexual battery, but specifics of the allegations aren't yet known.

9News has learned Hoffman also served as a volunteer for West Clermont by serving as the leader of the "Wrestlerettes" program at Glen Este High.

It's a small group of high school girls who help with the operating functions of wrestling matches, but 9News was told they are not cheerleaders.

9News was told Hoffman's daughter was a member of the Wrestlerettes.

It's not clear whether the alleged victim is a wrestler on the team, or if he was dating her daughter.

Police are simply telling 9News that the suspect and her alleged victim had "mutual acquaintances".

No one came to the door at Hoffman's Union Township home Wednesday night.

In another paid capacity with the school, she called substitute teachers from that same home in the morning to arrange placement for absent full-time teachers.

Her neighbors tell 9News that she and her husband are currently going through a divorce, and she hasn't been seen recently at the couple's home.

Hoffman is at least staying in jail Wednesday night, as she has yet to be given a bond amount.

It's thought she will make a court appearance Thursday morning, but details could not be verified.

Union Township police were not available for an interview, but do say in a press release that they are concerned there may be more victims.

On Wednesday night, 9News spoke off-camera with West Clermont Schools Superintendent Dr. Gary Brooks.

Brooks says the district is cooperating fully with the investigation, and to his knowledge, none of the alleged activity took place on school property.
