Forecast: Clouds & Showers

Reported by: Larry Handley

Last Update: 11:48 am

Another weak cool front arrives today bringing with it some clouds, a few light showers and a shot of cooler air. Consequently, we will remain cooler than normal through the rest of the work week but milder temperatures will return for the weekend.

More clouds than sunshine today though as a cool front takes all day to move through. These clouds may produce a few light rain showers but it will not be a washout and quite a few areas may even stay dry today. High temperatures will once again only climb into the lower 50s. Typically, we approach 60 degrees for a high this time of year. Clouds will linger into the evening but some gradual clearing will begin overnight tonight and it will be on the cool side with lows dropping into the middle to upper 30s. There may be a few leftover clouds to start the day tomorrow but the sun will return and it will be cool again in the lower 50s. The work week ends pleasant enough with mostly sunny skies on Friday and a little milder in the middle to upper 50s.

The weekend may provide us with the best conditions of the next week or so. Right now, Saturday and Sunday look to be dry with significant sunshine and above normal temperatures. Highs should be in the 60s with overnight temperatures in the upper 30 to lower 40s.

Earth Gauge: Lighten Up

Fewer daylight hours and cooler weather often mean that we spend more time inside during fall and winter.  While heating and cooling account for more energy use than other household activities, small appliances and lights still add to home energy costs. Last year, Ohio residents spent 201 dollars on energy for home lighting.

Viewer Tip:
The Alliance to Save Energy estimates that replacing the four most-used traditional light bulbs in your home with compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs) can save the typical Ohio household 120 dollars over the lifetime of the bulbs!  While CFLs are generally more expensive at the time of purchase, they last about eight times longer than traditional bulbs.
