A judge decided Monday that the four children of Liz and David Carroll will now live with David Carroll's mother, Debbie Hounshell.
However Clermont County Children Services still have temporary custody of the children.
For the last year, they have been in foster care.
Liz Carroll's mother, Audrey Sims, had previously asked to be considered for custody, but she withdrew that request and had asked for visitation rights for the children.
They were all put in foster care almost a year ago after David and Liz Carroll were first arrested for the murder of their 3-year-old foster son, Marcus Fiesel.
Earlier this year, the couple was convicted for the child's death, after leaving him wrapped in blankets and tape in an upstairs closet in their Union Township home, while they attended a family reunion.
Liz and David Carroll are now serving prison sentences after being found guilty of the child's murder.
The Carrolls have three boys ages five, six, and eight.
David Carroll has two 8-year-old daughters with two different women.
Debbie Hounshell will receive a $100 a month for each child.
The children have been in weekly counseling sessions and that is expected to continue.
Liz Carroll's parents, Audrey and Delbert Sims will have visitation with the children.
The judge will review the living arrangements in six months and discuss permanent custody at that time.
