CINCINNATI - A Kroger Co. vendor is expanding in Blue Ash, with a claims-management office that will soon employ more than 110 people.
Sedgwick Claims Management Services Inc. is a Memphis, Tenn. -based company that handles workers compensation and disability claims for the Cincinnati-based grocery giant. It was asked to relocate jobs from Iowa when Kroger renewed its contract with the company last year.
"Kroger asked us to move our center from Des Moines to Cincinnati," said Sedgwick spokeswoman Lesley Gudehus. "That created 55 new jobs in the Cincinnati area. We have a total of 95 employees right now, and we're recruiting 16 more."
Sedgwick is one of at least three Kroger Co. business partners adding jobs in the Tri-State. Dunnhumby USA, a market research firm that's half-owned by Kroger, is building a new headquarters downtown. It now employs 650 and plans to reach 1,100 by 2018.
Koncert IT, a pharmacy call center launched by Kroger and local IT consultant Mahendra Vora, had 45 employees in Hamilton as of last May, with plans to hire as many as 300, according to the Hamilton-Journal News.
Sedgwick opened a new office on Lake Forest Drive in Blue Ash in March, relocating local employees from Sycamore Township.
"It is a significant new addition to our business community," said Neil Hensley, economic development director for the city of Blue Ash. "The professional services sector, including IT, is a cluster we're very much interested in."
Kroger is at the end of a multi-year expansion in Cincinnati in which it relocated hundreds of employees to its downtown headquarters and to Blue Ash, where it now employs about 1,000.
