CINCINNATI - Remke-biggs has a one-day answer for the Kroger Co.'s new pricing strategy. It involves the words Super and Double.
On Tuesday, Mar. 5, 13 area Remke-biggs stores will double – up to $2 – all manufacturer coupons. That's an increase from their standard $1 limit. The one-day promotion is a reaction to Kroger's decision to end doubling couponing in favor of broader price reductions on about 3,500 items.
"It's expensive. But it's certainly something we know the community likes," said Connie Flynn, director of community relations for the Erlanger –based grocery chain. Remke-biggs doubles up on its manufacturer coupons periodically, but rolled this one out because customers asked for it following the launch of its new pricing strategy one month ago.
"Double coupons have been a part of our business for probably 15-20 years," Flynn said. "Super Double Coupons are a special event."
Kroger released a statement on the Remke-biggs promotion:
"Kroger is committed to save customers even more with our new lower prices, weekly specials, personalized coupon mailers, aggressive fuel program and time savings with the fastest checkout in town."
