Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati is Ohio's top revenue producer in August

Downtown casino still No. 2 in the Tri-State

CINCINNATI -- Cincinnati’s four casino rivals generated $57.1 million August revenue, with Lawrenceburg’s Hollywood casino hanging onto its No. 1 market share with a $21.6 million month.

Figures from casino regulators in both states were released Monday.

Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati raked in $19.2 million in August, down three-tenths percent from July. The downtown casino was the top revenue producer in Ohio, as Horseshoe Cleveland fell to a 15-month low of $18.9 million.

Hollywood’s revenue represented 38 percent of all gaming revenue in the Cincinnati metropolitan area. The Lawrenceburg property was down 34.8 percent from a year ago.

Belterra Casino Resort near Vevay, Indiana dipped to $10.6 million, down 15 percent from a month ago and 23.2 percent from August, 2012.

Rising Star casino in Rising Sun recorded $5.7 million in August revenue, up 6.5 percent from a month ago, but down 21.1 percent from last August.

On a combined basis, the four casinos closest to Cincinnati generated 5.3 percent more revenue than three Southeast Indiana casinos made a year ago.
