Walmart slashes iPhone price to just $29

Don't Waste Your Money

So your iPhone 4 is on its last legs, or your 5 is scratched and damaged, or you are thinking of switching from an Android to an Apple phone?

Now is the time to make your move.

Walmart has just slashed the price of the colorful plastic-bodied iPhone 5C to $29, and has also cut the price of the top-of-the-line iPhone 5S to $99.

Radio Shack stores are also offering a similar deal.

This matches the lowest promotional price ever offered on these phones, though this price is permanent, Walmart says, at least until the new iPhone 6 comes out this fall.

Should You Buy?

The catch with this deal, as with all low-priced iPhones, is that you are required to sign up for a 2 year contract with a major carrier.

And that presents a dilemma to anyone considering moving up to the (rumored) larger iPhone 6 later this year.

If you purchase a new iPhone now, you will not be able to upgrade to the new phone this fall (without paying the full $600 retail price).

Bloomberg News, CNN/Money, Mashable and other sites says Apple will release a slightly larger 4.7" iPhone in September, along with an iPhone "Phablet," which will be almost the size of the iPad mini.

If you see yourself upgrading to either of those, you may want to hold off on buying any phone now.

That way you don't waste your money.
