Toyota halts sales of some popular cars

If you thinking of buying a new Toyota with heated seats to keep warm, you may have to wait a couple more weeks.

The automaker has halted sales of thousands of its popular models, because the heated seats don't meet flammability standards.

The sales manager at one Cincinnati-area dealer, Joseph Toyota, tells WCPO they are sidelining 50 new cars -- out of 500 on their lot -- until the seats are fixed.

The stop sale order affects new Camrys, Corollas, Avalons, and Siennas that have heated seats, many built in Georgetown Kentucky.

Dealers will replace the seat heaters.

No Recall for Consumers

There is no recall, however, on cars already sold, and the company has no reports of any fires. Toyota does not believe it to be a safety issue for drivers.

Joseph Toyota says they have hundreds of Camrys, Avalons, and Corollas on their lot they can still sell.

But you are going to have to deal with a chilly bottom on cold winter mornings:   if you were hoping for heated seats, you're going have to wait a while longer.

Resist the urge to call back, so you don't waste your money.
