We're just getting into October, when most of us are thinking of buying some pumpkins and mums. But not so for some big retailers, because Christmas is arriving earlier than ever this year.

Walk into a store....stroll through the mall....or turn on the TV..... and it's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas.

Trees, Ornaments, even Music

Kmart recently began airing the earliest Christmas ad ever on television.

Meantime, it's already Christmas at Hobby Lobby, where we found their store filled with Christmas items.

Becky Sefarsic says its just too soon. "We're trying to get through Fall first, and Thanksgiving and Halloween," she said.

But good luck: The Dollar General store next door already has two full aisles of Christmas merchandise.

We found a Christmas display in Garden Ridge in August.

And Toys r Us and Walmart are already starting holiday layaway.

Shoppers have mixed reactions

Sheila Parker said "it's not just with Christmas. But you can't enjoy any holiday season because they are pushing the next one."

Still, some shoppers don't mind a head start, as it helps their finances, Felicia Maupin saying "I usually start Christmas in August. I put stuff in layaway, so you know your budget and everything."

Whatever you think of it, an early Christmas season is here to stay.

One sign outside a Quick Lube said it all: "Christmas decorations are now in stores, so it must be getting closer to Halloween." I couldn't have said it any better.

Bottom line:  Christmas is the biggest shopping season of the year. Stores want to start as early as they can.

So get used to it, so you don't waste your money.
