Looking for an easy way to protect your identity? Shred any personal document with account or Social Security numbers on it.
But for many people, that means hours, if not days, in front of a shredder.
So there is an easier solution: a free shredding "event" this weekend.
WCPO-TV, Channel 9 is co-sponsoring a shredding event Saturday in the Cincinnati area.
Free Shredding Event
- Saturday 9am to 2pm
- UC's Blue Ash College (Formerly Raymond Walters)
- 9555 Plainfield Road, Blue Ash OH
Limit 5 boxes of documents per person. No commercial accounts, please.
Prohibited items include: binders, plastic bags and pre-shredded paper.
Hamilton County Commissioner Greg Hartmann will be participating in the event and is encouraging anyone with sensitive information to protect themselves by shredding it.
"In this economy the number of fraud victims are increasing and the group being targeted the most is seniors. So it is critical for this group to protect themselves, and we want to help make this happen," said Hartmann.
WCPO and the Hamilton County Coalition to Prevent Scams and Abuse are partnering for this event.
