CINCINNATI - Part of vacation is learning how to protect yourself when you're vulnerable and the FBI is warning travelers against overseas Internet hackers.
The FBI issued a warning on May 8 about hackers who are targeting overseas travelers using pop-up windows when you sign in to a hotel Internet network.
The pop-up urges users to update a program, but when you click on it, a virus is downloaded on the computer, according to the FBI.
The FBI recommends travelers update computer programs before leaving home to avoid the temptation to follow the pop-up's orders.
Unsecured Wi-Fi networks can also be susceptible to hacking. Experts recommend making sure you computer's firewall is up to date and turned on and using only networks that are password protected.
