Monday was one of those days where I caught myself coming and going, so Monday Morning Musings is taking a Tuesday slant.

-Today's the day, people. The day when I don't daydream about one day being a snowbird in Florida. The day when everything seems just a little bit better. I don't care what the calendar says. I don't care that Larry's calling for a little snow tomorrow. Spring is here.

Reds pitchers and catchers report today.

It's times like these that I miss sports terribly. Covering spring training is the best gig ever. The days are long, but the players are giddy to get back to work, the monotony of the regular season hasn't set in – and they all have hope for success. Especially after their performance last year.

I saw one of the front office guys for the Reds last week and he mentioned he was leaving the next day for Goodyear, Ariz. I could feel my shoulders dip, a frown forming and my jealousy bubbling to the top. There's no hiding it.

That said, I'm looking forward to seeing John Popovich's reports from Goodyear, beginning Saturday.

-It's also Fat Tuesday, or as it likes to be called: Big Boned Tuesday. As you can imagine, New Orleans is downright nuts right about now. This morning during Good Morning Tri-State, ABC provided a live camera from a bar on Bourbon Street where we can look live at what was going on.

The first time we looked in, Bourbon Street was packed with people, and full of litter. The next shot – around 5:45 a.m. or so – showed street sweepers coming in to clean things up a bit before the revelers got back to it. And by 7 a.m., there they were. Back to partying, drinking and general debauchery.

They ended one party, cleaned up and began another. This pretty much cements the fact that we wake up – and work – in the middle of the night.

-We turned on the Westminster Dog Show last night and I was surprisingly mesmerized. Granted, it was the toy division, where the dogs look like dust mops with bows (even the boy dogs), but I found myself unable to turn away. I also wonder if there's a dress code for handlers: women must wear unflattering skirted suits, orthopedic shoes and skin-colored pantyhose.

-I spent some time at UC this weekend and was really impressed with all the improvements on campus. I'd been in the athletic building, and seen the changes to Nippert Stadium, but walking around on campus for the first time in years, it was remarkably different. And the rec center is a sight to behold.

From Today's Show:

-Try It Out Tuesday: We tested the Sweater Stone, which promises to get rid of pills on our sweaters and stuff naturally. See if it works here .

-Wrestling Pinned: The International Olympic Committee met today to figure out which event to get rid of, and they chose wrestling . It's maybe the most Olympic of Olympic sports, isn't it? Ping pong? You're staying. Trampoline: keep bouncing. Modern pentathlon (and I challenge you to name all five sports without the help of our friend Google) - you're fine. But wrestling? Outta here. This makes no sense to me.

Today's Distracting Link:

A bit time consuming (and loud), but isn't that the point?
