Chorizo tacos: Taste 513 at The Famous Neons Unplugged
Last Sunday, I'd hoped to take my brand new adopted dog, Sofie, to Oakley's Pup Crawl, but after friends said it was really crowded (and I didn't want to scare the dog), we decided to go to a different dog-friendly place, Neons.
I had forgotten that this eatery was now doing brunch on Sundays, so I decided to partake, particularly after seeing a friend's amazing looking burger. Taste 513 is a catering company that has regular gigs at both Neon's and Findlay Market. Check their Facebook page for where they'll be .
While a burger sounded (and looked) delicious, I wanted something a little less substantial but still filling. After seeing a few people walk to their seats with delicious looking tacos, I decided to try one. The taco is simple, and really a riff on migas, Mexican-style scrambled eggs:
It was a little hard to eat because of the salsa, so be sure to grab plenty of napkins. One taco was perfect for me; if you're a little hungrier, try two. I washed it down with a glass of Stiegl Grapefruit Radler, which is beer mixed with grapefruit soda. Surprisingly light and delicious.
I love it when I accidentally discover something delicious--particularly one that is so filling and affordable. I have a feeling that during the spring and summer, I'll be indulging in a few more of those tacos.
