wine me, dine me pick of the week: Brisket tacos? Texas Joe's brand of beef may be just the ticket

In case you missed it, food Trucks are a major thing, and Cincinnati has its fair share. Texas Joe's has been around for a while. The owner--a Texas transplant, naturally--serves up delicious tacos around the city.

This is one of those cases where everyone has told me, "Try Texas Joe's!" and I just have never been in the same place as the truck at the right time. At Taste of Cincinnati, however, it happened. And, I'm going to make sure it happens more often.

Texas is known for brisket, so the brisket taco is a natural, and it is among  of the best brisket I've had in town (and better than most of the brisket I had in Texas!). 

The braised brisket is topped with black bean and corn salsa, a nice slaw, and some salsa verde, as well as cotija cheese. I should have gone back for more; this is one of the more flavorful tacos I've had in a long time. I particularly liked the balance of sweet and smoky with just a touch of coolness from the cheese and corn.

Besides the brisket, Texas Joe's has chipotle chicken, local veggies, picadillo (ground beef with vegetables) and smoked pork. I'll definitely try them all, and possibly a torta as well -- one of their offerings.

Bottom line: It's food truck season, and this one has some unique offerings that will definitely perk up your summer eating.
