CINCINNATI – Montgomery Inn, a Cincinnati favorite for ribs and barbecue sauce, is spicing up its menu with a new Chipotle Barbecue Sauce.
It's the first new barbecue sauce since family matriarch Matula Gregory created the original in the late 1950s.
The new sauce is a "perfect marriage" of the original’s sweet and spicy flavor combined with smoked jalapeno peppers, Montgomery Inn says.
In keeping with tradition, the new sauce was invented in the kitchen by Ted and Matula Gregory’s son, Tom.
“We’re always listening to our patrons, and they’ve told us they’d like a spicier option," said Evan Andrews, vice president of Montgomery Inn.

The sauce is also available in stores and online at www.cincyfavorites.com .
You can taste the new sauce at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fountain Square.
In 2013, Montgomery Inn was named a top mail order company by the TODAY show and sold its 30 millionth bottle of sauce. The sauce is now shipped all over the world.

You can get a free bottle of Montgomery Inn's Chipotle Barbecue Sauce by donating blood this week at Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati.
The offer is good May 12-16 at any of the eight neighborhood donor centers or the Montgomery Ft. Mitchell (400 Buttermilk Pike) blood drive on Tuesday, 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Three donors will be selected to win ribs for a year (one slab per month, for 12 months). Montgomery Inn Ft. Mitchell donors will also receive a meal following their donation.
