Greater Cincinnati's first drive-thru Panera Bread opening this week

NEWPORT, Ky. – Newport’s Pavilion Parkway is about to get a lot busier.

The first drive-thru Panera Bread in the greater Cincinnati area opens Wednesday at 169 Pavilion Parkway, offering fresh-baked breads, bagels, pastries and more.

The bakery-café is the 21st Panera to open in the Tri-State. It will celebrate its grand opening at 6 a.m. by giving away a free Panera Bread coffee tumbler with free brewed coffee refills through Jan. 31 to the first 1,000 customers.

The first 1,000 customers inside the bakery-cafe, as well as the first 300 drive-thru customers, will also receive a free cinnamon crunch bagel.

The Newport Panera will also host a “Mystery Gift Card Giveaway” contest at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18. Customers will be invited to select one of 100 mystery gift cards after purchasing their meal. Gift card amounts vary from $5 to $100.

Southwest Ohio Panera Bread franchisee Craig Flom said the shop also plans to support the Freestore Foodbank, neighborhood fundraisers and other charitable efforts on an on-going basis.

“Panera Bread is committed to giving back to the communities it serves and plans to support several local non-profits throughout the year,” Flom said.

The 4,700 square-foot shop will employ about 55 workers and four salaried general managers.

It will feature free WIFI and online ordering at . It will be open Monday through Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Sundays from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
