CINCINNATI - You can buy synthetic versions of marijuana in gas stations and convenience stores. They go by names such as "K2," "Spice," and "Blaze."
The synthetic marijuanas are a blend of plant and herbal materials that have been sprayed with chemicals.
But just because they're legal doesn't mean they're safe.
A new report in the Journal Pediatrics says that synthetic pot is sending teenagers to the emergency room in growing numbers. The American Association of Poison Control Centers reported 4,500 calls involving synthetic pot between 2010 and 2011.
Some of the dangerous side-effects include excessive sweating, catatonia, inability to speak, and unusual aggression.
