National Drug Facts Week is underway across the country, with the goal of shattering myths among teens when it comes to illegal drug-use.
Drug Facts Chat Day is taking place now through 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan . 31, 2013.
Teens from pre-selected high schools across the country are able to ask questions to more than 30 scientists and science writers. Online uses can view the live chat as it happens. Click here to see the chat.
One teen asked about the effects of marijuana on the brain. The answer: It could affect the parts of the brain that allows one to make plans, solve problems, and make decisions-- altering the brain chemistry in ways that can have both short-term and long-term effects.
Another teen asked, "What's the safest drug?" The answer: Caffeine in moderation.
