MASON, Ohio - A former Mason High School teacher, charged with sex crimes against students, has entered a new plea in the case. Stacy Schuler's attorney filed paperwork with the Warren County Court of Common Pleas changing her plea to not guilty by reason of insanity on Wednesday.
Schuler, 33, is on electronic monitoring and has to abide to a curfew ordered by the court upon her release from the Warren County jail in February.
She resigned from her position as health and physical education teacher with Mason City Schools. She is facing 16 counts of sexual battery and three additional counts of giving alcohol to underage teenagers. She is currently staying with her parents in the Dayton, Ohio area.
Schuler is also prohibited from having any contact with anyone under the age of 19, except family members.
The investigation started in January when Mason school officials say they got a tip about a teacher allegedly having inappropriate sexual contact with students. That school investigation then triggered a police criminal investigation of the allegations.
Her trial is set to begin on August 8.
