Man dies in Middletown crash

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - One man is dead after crashing his vehicle in Middletown early Friday morning.

Middletown police responded to the 300 block of Tytus Avenue at about 2:40 a.m. to find a 2000 gold Mitsubishi that had driven off the road and crashed into a tree. A witness said the vehicle was speeding westbound on Tytus Avenue when it drove off the left side of the road and crashed.

A male occupant in his mid 30s died in the crash. His identity has not yet been released. No one else was in the vehicle or involved in the collision.

A passerby saw the vehicle on fire following the accident and pulled the man from the vehicle. CPR was performed on the man, who was not responsive.

Emergency crews transported him to Atrium Hospital where he was pronounced dead at about 3:40 a.m.

Several people told police they had seen the driver at a nearby bar earlier in the evening. The man had numerous driver's license suspensions as well, according to Middletown police.

Middletown police are continuing the investigation.
