CLAYTON, Ohio - Clinton-Massie High School earned its first berth in a state football title game Friday night with a come-from-behind victory over Columbus Bishop Hartley in a Division IV state semifinal at Northmont High School.
The Falcons, which were ranked fourth in the final Associated Press Division IV state poll, outscored top-ranked Hartley 45-21 to become the first school from Clinton County to advance to a state football championship game.
Clinton-Massie set the state single-season scoring record during the contest. The Falcons have amassed 776 points thus far this season, besting the previous mark set by Marion Pleasant mark in 2001 (731 points in 15 games).
Clinton-Massie (14-0) will face St. Clairsville (14-0) for the state title Friday, Nov. 30 at 3 p.m. at Canton's Fawcett Stadium.
