NEW YORK -- It was only the opening number of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Broadway mainstay "Cats," but one audience member just couldn't stand it anymore.

At a show this week, a service dog accompanying somebody to the Neil Simon Theater "got away from its owner and ran after (the character) Bombalurina, performed by actress Mackenzie Warren," according to the New York Post.

Somebody should have awarded a Tony Award on the spot for realistic costume design.

An usher quickly corralled the canine offstage and returned it to its owner.

“In the storied history of ‘Cats,’ this is the first time one of the actual cats was involved in an incident with a dog. We’re pleased to report that no animals or humans were harmed in the dust-up, and the performance continued without a hitch,” a spokesperson for the musical told The New York Post.
