You've probably seen this photograph dozens of times in your life and never thought much about it.

"Bliss" was the default background all those years you used AOL or surfed through MySpace on systems running Windows XP.

Lufthansa is even calling it the most seen image of all time and has commissioned its creator, National Geographic photographer Chuck O'Rear, to capture three new scenes as part of a contest giving away free trips to California.

O'Rear captured the iconic photo in January 1996. He was driving through Sonoma County north of San Francisco to see his girlfriend when he snapped the shot, according to Lufthansa.

“I am thrilled to create for Lufthansa a sequel to the 'Bliss' photo on smartphones so that my views of other beautiful places can continue to be enjoyed by millions of people. After all, smartphones have become the primary place for the world to see new and interesting photography. And, I’m glad to be part of it," O'Rear said.

This new project, called New Angles of America, offers smartphone backgrounds of Peek-A-Boo Slot (Utah), Maroon Bells (Colorado) and White Pocket (Arizona) for download.

Lufthansa then asks contest participants to upload their selected photo to Instagram, use the hashtag #NewAnglesofAmerica, write a caption explaining why they'd like to explore that location in real life and tag @Lufthansa.

The winner will earn a trip for two including flights and accommodations in California, car rental and a photo training session with O'Rear himself.
