CINCINNATI – How hot is Over-the-Rhine? Well, it just went up a few degrees.
Nick and Drew Lachey – Cincinnati natives and former members of the boy band 98 Degrees – began filming a new reality show Monday for the A&E Network about opening their own sports bar in Over-the-Rhine.
A&E ordered 10 half-hour episodes from the brothers, under the working title “Lachey's Bar.”
Produced by Leftfield Pictures, the show will follow Nick and Drew as they open a bar at 1201 Walnut St., an 18,000-square-foot space formerly occupied by the Art Academy of Cincinnati. The show is slated to premiere in 2015.
Camera crews were spotted at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport Monday as Nick and Drew arrived in the Queen City.
Bob Deck, co-founder of hospitality group 4EG (Four Entertainment Group), said he’s been working on the project with the brothers for about a year and expects the bar to open late November of this year.
“We just started construction,” Deck said. “We've been developing this for a while and we're excited to do this project with them. It's a win, win.”
A&E provided the following description of the show Monday:
“Nick and Drew Lachey have recently decided to embark on a lifelong dream of opening a bar together. Despite their lack of knowledge about running a business, these determined brothers are ready to roll up their sleeves and learn the ins and outs of running a place where everybody knows your name. Unfortunately, drinking experience doesn't necessarily translate into drink-making experience - but they're ready to learn.
Nick and wife Vanessa split their time between Los Angeles and New York but Drew returned to Cincinnati years ago. While Nick and his family decide where they want to put roots down, the bar gives them a real reason to make Cincinnati home base. Luckily they already have a house in 'Cincy,' right next door to Drew's, and a built-in group of childhood friends ready to fill their new establishment.”
