CINCINNATI -- Hungry humanitarians, look no further for your midday meal/good deed for the day.
The second annual Josh Care food truck fundraiser takes place Wednesday at Fountain Square. The event goes from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Food ticket proceeds will benefit the Josh Care Child Life Specialist program, according to executive director Joy Blang.
"They're a non-medical position, their job is really to support whatever a child and their family need to get through a stressful time," Blang said.
The six full-time specialists work to accomplish this by managing a play area, visiting children or sitting with them before and after surgery.
"These kids have a face who they are connected to during this ... difficult time," Blang said. "Someone who they trust."
Food Truckin' for Josh Cares offers food from more than 10 trucks from around the city, including cajun food from New Orleans to Go, Korean barbeque from Red Sesame, sandwiches from Urban Grill and Italian ice creams and sorbetti from Dojo Gelato.
The event ends with the Golden Spatula award, given to the best entree and dessert provider. Returning champion SugarSnap! Sweet Treats will compete with new dishes that range from gourmet grilled cheese to traditional Cincinnati chili.
Entrees are usually two tickets, or $4 apiece, while desserts, sides and drinks are usually available for one ticket, or $2, Josh Cares said.
Attendees can also browse clothing and accessories at the Truck Shop mobile boutique.
