COVINGTON, KY – Braxton Brewing Company is putting fireworks in a can with the limited release of Short Fuse, a grapefruit-infused pale ale.

The Covington-based brewery announced Short Fuse is the official "Boom Can” beer for this year’s WEBN/Western & Southern Fireworks. The annual (and unofficial) end of summer event takes place Sunday, Sept. 3 along the riverfront.

“The WEBN fireworks have been a part of the Rouse Family’s summer for as long as I can remember,” said Jake Rouse, Braxton Brewing Co. co-founder and CEO in a press release. “For Braxton to now be a part of the show is a dream come true. This beer is perfect for summer days and light enough to enjoy long into the night. We can’t wait to lift one to life all summer long!”

Short Fuse is brewed with fresh grapefruit, along with Centennial, Cascade and Chinook hopes that give the beer a floral and citrus taste. The beer is five percent alcohol by volume.

Braxton will host an official Boom Can launch party from 3-7 p.m. Friday at its taproom, located at 27 W. 7th St. in Covington.

WEBN’s “The KiddChris Show” will live broadcast from the brewery during the party. Customers can buy six packs of Short Fuse and drink it on draft during the event.

Braxton and WEBN will also give away VIP experiences to the Western & Southern/WEBN Fireworks and official fireworks t-shirts at the party.

Local Kroger stores will start selling Short Fuse in cans on Saturday.

The brewery will then host special tapping events at various locations throughout the summer leading up to the fireworks.
