Rhinegeist to start barrel-aged bottle series with release of Sherry Ink

CINCINNATI -- Fans waiting expectantly for the release Rhinegeist’s barrel-aged beer series take heart -- your wait is almost over.

The Over-the-Rhine-based brewery will launch the program with the release of its Great American Beer Festival silver medal-winning Sherry Ink.

The beer medaled in the famous competition’s Wood and Barrel-Aged Strong Stout category this year.

Sherry Ink is an Imperial Stout aged in sherry barrels for three months. The brewers said the beer features “a rich, full-bodied, and creamy mouthfeel with milk chocolate and caramel undertones.”

To celebrate, Rhinegeist is hosting a special launch party on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. at the brewery.

The $50 ticket will net you two reserved bottles of Sherry Ink before their release to the public. (The bottles will retail for $18.)

The event will also include a barrel-aged sampler flight and a chance to learn more about the barrel-aged series from brewer Luke Cole.

If you have other plans or want to wait for the general release, Rhinegeist will release Sherry Ink to the public at the taproom at noon Saturday. The cost will be $18/bottle and a limit of two per person while supplies last.
