Grab your cape and cowl! Mean Streets 5K brings the excitement of Hollywood to downtown Cincinnati

CINCINNATI -- If your taste in movies tends towards heroes in capes and giant explosions, Cincinnati has a race just for you.

The organizers at Mean Streets said they took a traditional 5K run and combined it with the thrills of an obstacle race.

Then they kicked it up a notch -- giving it the full Hollywood treatment.

Organizers said each obstacle was inspired by some of the best urban chase scenes the movies have to offer. Racers will have to run, climb, scale and crawl their way to victory.

Participants are encouraged to wear their favorite action hero costume, and even take the race on as a group -- a la the “Justice League.”

The Mean Streets Cincinnati race will be held on Saturday at Yeatman’s Cove Park.

“We are really excited to have a Mean Streets race in Cincinnati.  Cincinnati has a great running community, and beautiful Yeatman’s Cove Park is the perfect place to host our unique race,” Director of Marketing Meghan Coomes said in a release. “It’s obvious that people are looking for a change of pace. They are bored with the traditional 5K.  Mean Streets offers people a chance to dress up in costumes and really experience something unique.”

There will also be an after-race part held at the Keystone Bar and Grill in Clifton.

Entry costs $45 until Friday and will cost $55 the day of the event. Check in starts at 8 a.m.
