6. Holiday Crafty Supermarket
The indie craft market that began at the Northside Tavern has come a long way since its inception in 2009; this month, it was featured in Country Living magazine alongside six other indie craft fairs.
That's a big jump for a gathering that began with just 20 local crafters in a neighborhood bar. This year's fair is set to host more than 50 crafters, from kitschy to quirky to cool to collectible. Free swag bags will be handed out to the first 100 shoppers of the day; be forewarned, people line up early for these.

This time, the event will feature music by Cincy-bred artists The Yugos and Indigo Wild, jammin' center rink while you all skate around. Free pizza and hip raffle prizes from Moerlein Lager House, Tom + Chee and much more will be provided, including free foosball, air hockey and bumper pool.
8. Cincy native returns to Tri-State for opening of new film 'Redlegs'
Cincinnati native Brandon Harris returned to his hometown in 2010 to shoot his directorial debut, a micro-budgeted drama about three grief-stricken guys dealing with the mysterious death of a good friend. Two years later, Harris is back with the finished film, "Redlegs," which opens a weeklong run at the Esquire Theatre on Friday.
For those who get excited about such things, "Redlegs" does feature a plethora of local touchstones that add flavor and texture — vanilla shakes from UDF; the Ohio River; an argument in Northside Tavern's restroom; fisticuffs with a West Side redneck; a trip to Great American Ball Park; the WEBN fireworks — but it's Harris' deft, understated touch as a filmmaker and his game trio of actors that should get just as much attention.
