This year's free, every-Friday MidPoint Indie Summer series on Fountain Square largely showcases some of the best of Cincinnati's independent, original artists, but there are a few shows featuring national acts. This Friday's event might just be the best "national" show of 2013, headlined by Indianapolis, Indie faves Margot & the Nuclear So & So's, who have amassed a strong Cincy following thanks to frequent visits.

Philly-spawned Matt Pond (of the band Matt Pond PA), who released the well-received solo album The Lives Inside the Lines in Your Hands earlier this year, plays the middle slot.

And opening the night at 8 p.m. is Matrimony, the North Carolina-based Indie/Roots quintet that recently released its first effort for Columbia Records, the EP Montibello Drive, in early June.

8 p.m. Free. Fountain Square, Fifth and Vine streets, Downtown, myfountainsquare.com .
