Folksy, rootsy, internationally acclaimed singer/songwriter Daniel Martin Moore is doing a handful of shows in his beloved Kentucky this weekend, including a stop at Molly Malone’s Saturday.
The home-state dates are in support of Moore’s just-released Archives Vol. I album, which is loaded with unreleased tracks from the past five years, a bit of a whirlwind period for the Cold Spring, Ky., native.
Exactly five years ago this month, Moore’s obscure status was shattered when the venerable Sub Pop Records (which signed Moore based primarily on an unsolicited four-song demo, a rarity for the famous label) released his stellar debut, Stay Age, to wide acclaim.
The album kicked off a prolific half-decade of activity for Moore, marked by numerous collaborations, including My Morning Jacket’s Jim James, who has produced recordings for Moore, toured with him and provides dazzling harmonies and guitar on Archives’ track “Kentucky Waltz.”
8 p.m. $15 in advance; $17 at the door. Molly Malone’s, 112 E. Fourth St., Covington, Ky., 859-491-6659, covington.mollymalonesirishpub.com.
