Producer/songwriter THE-DREAM has parted ways with top label Def Jam Records, claiming he felt "underappreciated" by executives.
The hitmaker announced via Twitter.com on Wednesday (08Jan14) that he has left the record label after six years with the company.
Along with a photo of the Def Jam logo, he wrote, "It all started here! Love everything that I achieved there, exodus The-Dream.
"Underappreciated and unfinished! When no one would turn in a album that year. We did, it was a grave mistake. But I am proud of my work regardless. To (sic) much ego."
He is still planning to continue making music independently and adds, "Creativity! My own time my own way... No label at all! Perfect."
The-Dream, who co-wrote hits including Rihanna's Umbrella and Baby by Justin Bieber, was not only on Def Jam's artist roster but was also named executive vice president of the company in 2009.
