Opening Day Preview With Marty Brennaman

CINCINNATI - The Reds community has surpassed a fundraising goal, and that win will result in the loss of Hall of Fame broadcaster Marty Brennaman’s hair.
Brennaman, who turned 70 last week, will have his head shaved on live television at the end of Friday’s game between the Reds and the Pittsburgh Pirates at Great American Ball Park.
Earlier this week, Brennaman said he would publicly shave his head if fans donated at least $20,000 to the Reds Community fund. Individuals and businesses met that goal, and the fund’s gain will be the broadcaster’s loss. Brennaman had vowed to shave his head if the Reds won 10 games in a row during the season, and the team matched that feat.
Friday’s contest has been labeled “Marty Party” and will include a birthday celebration for Brennaman. Some of his more memorable calls will be played during the game.
Fans who will not be able to make it to Great American Ball Park tonight can watch the festivities online at Reds.com or on FOX Sports Ohio.
