CINCINNATI - Out at Perfect North Slopes in Indiana it was cold enough Monday night to start making snow. They plan to continue making snow as along as the weather cooperates, and hope to open for skiing the first week in December.
This man made snow is a reminder that the “real” stuff is on the way and with it being Winter Safety Awareness Week, we’re on your side with reminders to keep you safe on the road.
Cheryl Park, spokesperson for AAA, has some suggestions.
“You never know when you head out on the road, especially when it starts to get cold, what you might need. So it’s really important to have an emergency car care kit…it has items such as jumper cables, a flashlight with extra batteries, a first aid kit…things like that that you might need when you’re stranded on the road," said Park.
Parker also says it’s critical to have a blanket, water, snacks, and a charged cellphone.
“That’s something that a lot of people think, you use your phone a lot. You should always make sure that your phone is fully charged before you leave the house and you’re headed out on the roadway.”
So while the snow at Perfect North is a welcome site for skiers, snow and the roads make a dangerous mix.
