CINCINNATI - Even though we still have two more months of winter, spring is knocking on our door. 9 First Warning Weather took a look at the weather trends for the next few months to see what Mother Nature has in store.
Another blast of wintry weather Monday added more to the season's total snowfall, which is already more than double the amount of snowfall from last winter.
So far at CVG, we're right on target for where we should be for this time of year with a total of 12.7 inches. If the winter weather keeps up this slow and steady pace, we should fall around our seasonal norm of 22.1 inches.
But the groundhog has spoken: Punxsutawney Phil didn't see his shadow and has predicted an early spring.
Right on track with that prediction, we're expecting spring-like weather this week with above average temps and rain.
The Climate Prediction Center says we’re expecting to continue that trend into next week.
And in the next three months (February, March and April) a typical spring transition is in the forecast, which means severe weather is on the way soon.
Tornadoes are possible in February and March, but our chances increase as we head into April, May, and June. In fact, surprisingly, the most recorded tornadoes in the Tri-State between 1950 and 2003 have come during the month of June!
