CINCINNATI - On Jan. 21, there were two multi-car accidents on I-75 and I-275. Bursts of heavy snow caused reduced visibility contributing to the accidents. There are ways you can stay safe when driving in winter weather.

If it’s just “run of the mill” snow showers, turn on your head lights so others can see you. Turn off your cruise control and reduce speed. Don’t slam on the brakes, and try to avoid sudden starts or stops.

If visibility is reduced due to heavy snow and you’re having a hard time seeing where you’re driving, safely and slowly pull off to the side of the road. Be sure to turn off your lights and keep your foot off the brake. Drivers behind you could see your lights and think you are on the road. They could follow you and slam right into you.
