CINCINNATI - Tri-State roadways are mostly clear after several accidents brought Wednesday morning's commute to a crawl thanks to icy roads.
In Ohio, a crash near I- 75 at the Norwood Lateral brought traffic to a halt.
A little further north at Kenwood Road and I-71, crews had the highway closed for quite some time as they dealt with an accident.
The Ohio-Indiana border saw one of the worst crashes of the morning. An eight-vehicle accident closed I-74 at Brookville Road in Dearborn County for a couple hours. It happened about 9 a.m.
The I-75 loop wasn’t without its issues, either. A multi-vehicle accident at Kilby Road had the southbound lanes tied up.
Those icy roads had many of the side streets tied up too. Police had to divert traffic at North Bend Road and Pondarosa Drive after a two-vehicle crash sent one driver to a hospital.
Fortunately, crews were able to diligently get the roadways back open and most of the roadways were clear by about 10:30 a.m.
There were no reports of injuries in any of the crashes except for the crash on North Bend Road. Police have not released the extent of the injuries in that crash.
According to the American Automobile Association, employees responded to 212 calls for service Wednesday morning. Agents said that’s twice the amount the company usually gets for a morning commute.
Most of the calls came between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. Those requests included calls for dead batteries because of the cold snap, cars off the road, flat tires and other problems.
